Hello
Hi, I’m Emma, a dedicated and compassionate Interpersonal Psychotherapist. With over 16 years of experience in the NHS and a passion for understanding the complexities of human relationships, I provide a safe and supportive space for my clients. Whether you’re navigating life’s challenges or seeking clarity in your relationships, I’m here to guide you towards a more fulfilling and authentic life.
My Story
My passion for mental health comes from my own journey through life’s ups and downs—love, loss, and the complexities of family relationships. This curiosity about what makes us human led me to a career in mental health, where I’ve spent over 16 years working in the NHS, supporting adults through their mental health challenges. My experience spans from psychiatric inpatient care to community mental health services, and I’ve also worked with children and adolescents and in specialist rehabilitation settings.
I began my career with a Nursing Diploma at Nottingham University, later adding postgraduate certificates in psychological therapies and Supervision. In 2021, I transitioned to private practice as an accredited Interpersonal Psychotherapist and Supervisor. I was drawn to IPT (Interpersonal Psychotherapy) because it truly addresses the root of depression and other emotional challenges by focusing on how our relationships and life transitions affect our mental well-being.
IPT allows us to explore the roles we play in life and the changes we experience—whether that’s moving from married to divorced, becoming a parent, or facing a loss—and how these transitions shape our identities. I love that IPT also draws on Attachment Theory, which helps us understand the deeper emotional patterns in our relationships and teaches us how to communicate more effectively.
My approach to therapy is rooted in honesty, openness, and trust. I believe in creating a space where you can be yourself without fear of judgment. Together, we’ll work on understanding your unique challenges and developing the skills you need to build self-confidence, set healthy boundaries, and create a life that truly reflects who you are.
When I’m not in the therapy room, I’m usually cheering on my kids at the football pitch or immersing myself in history, books, and creativity. I’m fascinated by human connection, and nothing excites me more than meeting new people, hearing their stories, and watching their personal transformation unfold through therapy.
My goal is simple: to help you step into your own skin, develop the confidence to be authentic, and create the fulfilling life you deserve. Let’s work together to make that happen.
